{The Story}

The BLIS Story is one of a chef’s passion to handcraft, unique naturally sourced, gourmet ingredients. 

 The Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup begins with Grade A dark amber pure maple syrup which is aged in specially selected 12-18 year old single barrel bourbon casks. 

 

 Carolina Gold Rice

{Description}

- Made in Darlington, SC

{The Story}

The legendary heirloom grain “Carolina Gold” is grown at Plumfield Plantation which is located on the Great Pee Dee River in Darlington, SC.  The rice seeds for Carolina Gold were brought to Charleston, SC in 1685 from Madagascar.  After near extinction in the 1980s, the heirloom variety began to be grown again in 2005.  After harvesting in the fall, the rice grains are air-dried in grain bins and then milled shortly thereafter.

 

Cunningham Farms Sweet Potato Butter

{Description}

{The Story}

Sweet Potato Butter is a gourmet version of an old favorite and is perfect for toast, a glaze for meats or the filling for a delicious sweet potato pie. While rich and velvety it is not too sweet. It is handmade in small batches using organic sweet potatoes and locally made apple cider.

{The Story}

The couple behind these jewel-toned syrups made their first product debut to lots of fanfare at a Bushwick bar where the husband was a bartender.  A passion for quality cocktails lead to them developing an entire line of tantalizing syrup flavors. The syrups are handmade in small batches using only organic, whole ingredients, fair-trade sugar and filter water.

Founder Sallie Dent Porth traded in 20 years in the corporate world for life in a charming small Southern town.  Sharing her talent as an accomplished cook among family and friends evolved into the creation of this speciality line of highly acclaimed artisanal herbal fruit jams. Sallie’s motto is “love thy farmer”and she sources many of her ingredients from her local farm community for the small batches of jams.

 {The Story}

The founder of the Savannah Bee Company, Ted Dennard, was introduced to beekeeping at the early age of 12 years old on his father’s Coastal Georgia retreat property and has passionately pursued it ever since.

 The pure and naturally organic tupelo honey has a buttery undertone and a mellow, clean-finishing sweetness like a thick, slow moving river of liquid sunshine. The tupelo is a globe-shaped flower that blooms for two weeks in April in the Altamaha and Apalachicola River Basins of Georgia and Florida. 

 

Schermer Cinnamon Pecans

{Description}

- Made in Glennville, GA

{The Story}

The Fancy Mammoth Cinnamon Glazed Pecan Halves are made by the  60 year old Schermer Pecan Company that hand selects and freshly shells them for quality.  The pecans are roasted with just a hint of salt before receiving a sweet candy coating in circa 1940s cooper caladrons and then hand-tossed in Schermer’s blend of cinnamon and vanilla sugar.
